Imo looks like a further rift between PvP and PvE players.. Shame.

Still, I gotta wait over a month or something before it's on the stands here in the UK.

I don't mind an increased level cap. But if there is one, I hope that GW2 PvE is a really huge game, that allows a steady progression (like Prophecies, but five times bigger). Either that or higher levels are purely to show the "age" of a character. I really don't want to be grinding to lvl 100 or whatever just to beat the game.

Since I refuse to grind I cannot play 1/2 of PvP. I very much like GW PvP. (its the only thing that keeps me addicted to GW). The reason I came to GW is because I heard there was very little grinding. If there will be grinding in GW2 why should I stay at GW?
I'm trying to see where anyone has said there will be grind.

There will be opportunities for players to continue their character development. That does not equal grind.

You may simply choose to not continue your character developement after you hit whatever pre-determined point you decide to do so at.

The rest of us will enjoy the additional opportunity this presents.

Your ability to be competetive in the World PvP may be an issue, I agree. But since there is currently no equivalent in GW, what exactly are you missing out on? You can still GvG or whatever form organized PvP will take, and play at max level, with UaX.

I fail to see the problem.

Also, take into account we are far, far away from release. There were many things stated pre-release which never came quite to frutiion, or did but in a very different form. hat's the nature of the beast, and a sign of how much ANet listens to their customers.

LVL20 cap is not an issue since the GW2 engine is a different one from the current game. Also just because they had added more freedom to the movement it's now a WoW clone? That is the silliest statement I have ever heard. Movement is horrible in Guild Wars. How many times had I wanted to jump over something or fall off a cliff and wasn't able to.
The low level cap made Guild Wars unique. It allowed players to easily access and level characters to max level. Whether that is good or not is debatable, but it's one of GW's strong selling points.

And it's not just "more freedom" which makes it a WoW clone. It's the Instance Dungeons. The Mass People. The World PvP. The package of WoW's strengths as a whole, which many new MMOs have been utilizing.

But from what I understand is that the lvl cap in EotN will be raised? Not just GW2?

The thing I like most about GW is the equal opportunities players have, being lvl 20 and all. Not that some dude with time to spare grinds his way to lvl 100 in 3 days, while other players will need 100 days for that, and thus getting way behind. It will just become another time consuming game like WoW where some players go crazy with grinding to stay on top.

GW in it's current state is fun, friendly and not so time consuming, which is a good thing.

If the level cap is 100+ in Gw2 I really hope the level system will be the same as GW1. Example, once you reach lvl15 it will take 15k xp to reach the next level from now on.

Honestly, if you couldn't find anything to do besides reaching level 20 then that was your own fault.

The level 20 cap was one of the top 10 reasons I enjoyed GW. I enjoyed being able to level quickly, if I so chose, so I could move on to the higher end content. Leveling in a game is not what is fun to me, so I'm pretty disappointed about the higher level cap of PvE.

I don't really care about any of the other things. None of it seemed terribly exciting to me, but it also didn't seem terrible either. I'm thinking GW2 won't be for me.

Everything sounds so exciting, except the lack of a level cap. I have mixed feelings about it, depending on what they'll do with the higher levels... will it take a long time to gain levels? Will you keep getting stat points for each level? Etc etc... don't put it down before all info is known, though. And for goodness sakes, the game isn't even in beta yet!

The world does not revolve around a fanboy's wishful thinking. How will GW2 fair against WoW or any other competitions remains to be seen. But so far from the initial glimpse I would say GW2 is going to be big, with World PVP and the standard 'no leveling required' GW1 type PVP, and of course, the most shocking information being that the 'no monthly fee' policy will stay.

^The level cap will not change in EotN.

Just GW2.

Also I am betting levels are just for show.

The level 20 cap is rediculous. There was no character development after you hit the cap besides getting new skills. PvP and new storylines were the only things to look forward to in Guild Wars.

Besides the fact that no one knows what kind of leveling curve it'll have or how your level will affect you in combat. People need to calm down. PvP is remaining the same, if not becoming easier now that you don't need to unlock skills and I don't see how a higher cap changes PvE.

Well I think that the fit has hit the shan, so to speak. Call me a pessimist if you want to but there was another MMO that tried to change things up and failed (IMO) Star Wars Galaxies. I understand that this is a business after all and they have to competitively compete with other MMO's, but I cringe when a company reverses direction in a successful game.

100+ levels? Is that what is on the table for GW2? Well back to level grinding, the one great thing that GW1 was able to eliminate. I came over to GW because they got rid of grinding for levels, I can only hope that Gaile Grey and crew can come up with a solution that removes the needless level grinding from the future of GW2.

Other than that gut reaction to the possibility of having no level cap. GW2 in general though sounds like a interesting idea, I too hope that we can take our GW1 characters over to GW2 when it comes out. Call me a optimist but I am very excited for GWEN and GW2, just make sure that you get a auction house in to one or the other

We do not want to have to grind up to lvl w/e just to be able to be competitive. if I wanted to do that I should just go play WoW.

I have rather mixed feelings about all this news.

GW:EotN sounds great, with the exception of "sub-terranin tunnels". That sounds kind-a "clicha". But I have faith Anet will do it right.

GW2 on the other had has me worried. It sonds like they are moving it more toward a "typical" MMO. One of the reasons I liked GW so much was that it was so diffrent from other online games. The other reason, of course, is no monthly fee. So as long as that remains true I will probably still give GW2 a chance.

Regardless, I'm disapointed the Stand-alone expansion model did not prove to be as much of a success as they had wanted. I really like the concept and was hoping it would go farther.

Despite my reservations, I will definatly be purchasing GW:EotN. And, barring any real life current events around release date, buy at least the first installment of GW2. Anet's history to date has shown I can give GW2 at least that chance.
